Sakalas: Reduced Travel and Nearly Doubled Pick Rates in Food Fulfillment
Against the record
Locus robots, from Locus Robotics, is at stage 4 of 5 on our ladder: paying customers. Delivered and paid for, beyond pilots. The latest milestone on its record is from March 2026: Locus launched Locus Array, a robot with its own picking arm and cameras that fills orders without a worker. DHL was running three of them.
This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.
From the video's description
Sakalas, a leading Baltic 3PL supporting food distribution, operates under tight dispatch windows, changing customer requirements, and heavier, more varied order profiles. To improve productivity, the team needed to reduce non-value travel and increase picking performance without disrupting active operations or locking the site into fixed automation. Locus Vector helped Sakalas nearly double pick rates while keeping the operation flexible, in Vector’s first European deployment. Able to keep the flow moving across high-volume food orders, and support heavier, more varied SKUs, with Vector, Sakalas has seen: • ~2x increase in pick rate (from ~45–60, to ~90–100 LPH) • Up to 50% productivity improvement in overall operations since deployment • Reduced non-value travel (previously ~60% of time spent walking) • Up to 6 orders picked at once per robot • Faster training and onboarding (n…
