From Pen & Paper to Robots: Inside Staple Canada's Robotics Rollout
Against the record
Locus robots, from Locus Robotics, is at stage 4 of 5 on our ladder: paying customers. Delivered and paid for, beyond pilots. The latest milestone on its record is from March 2026: Locus launched Locus Array, a robot with its own picking arm and cameras that fills orders without a worker. DHL was running three of them.
This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.
From the video's description
During a session at NRF 2026, Paul Giamberardino, Chief Supply Chain Officer at Staples Canada, discusses the company's digital transformation with Sean Pineau, Locus Robotics' Vice President of Sales. He details the journey of moving from manual pen-and-paper picking processes to implementing Locus Robotics' autonomous mobile robots (AMR). Giamberardino explains why the Robots as a Service (RaaS) model was ideal for their capital constraints and how the technology was integrated into existing 'brownfield' facilities without major reconfigurations. He shares specific success metrics from their largest fulfillment center, including a 73% reduction in pick errors, a 70% reduction in order cycle time, and a doubling of picks per hour. The presentation highlights the positive impact on employee experience and the ease of scaling operations during peak seasons.
