One metric defines last-mile logistics: cost per delivery.
Against the record
Starship delivery robot, from Starship Technologies, is at stage 4 of 5 on our ladder: paying customers. Delivered and paid for, beyond pilots. The latest milestone on its record is from 28 April 2026: Starship said it had passed 10 million deliveries, with a fleet of more than 3,000 robots.
This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.
From the video's description
As Ahti says, the building part of a delivery robot isn't that hard. Most of our work has gone from getting it from ‘good enough for a delivery’ to a great opportunity for grocers to build a stronger business on. It’s about the autonomy, reliability, speed and most importantly: the cost per delivery. We’ve had to optimize 250x to get to the point of profitability that grocers can win from. 12 years later, this effort shows up in numbers, as the grocers who use our little delivery robots have seen 8 to 11% revenue increase per enabled store. That's what happens when the technology is built to work at scale. #AutonomousDelivery…
