Groceries from the air: Wingcopter drones deliver everyday goods for the first time in Germany
Against the record
Wingcopter 198, from Wingcopter, is at stage 4 of 5 on our ladder: paying customers. Delivered and paid for, beyond pilots. The latest milestone on its record is from 14 Sept 2026: Wingcopter launched the Wingcopter 262, a military reconnaissance drone it says can stay in the air for up to six hours.
This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.
From the video's description
Wingcopter and the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (Frankfurt UAS) have launched the “Drohnen-Lastenrad-Express-Belieferung“ (“Drone-Cargo Bike Express Delivery”) project. Under the name "LieferMichel", the pilot project offers residents of remote districts in Michelstadt/Germany, the opportunity to have groceries and consumer goods delivered to their homes quickly and emission-free by Wingcopter delivery drone and cargo bike. The drone deliveries are intended to sustainably improve local supply in the region. The project is being funded by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) as part of the "Innovative Air Mobility" funding directive with a total of around 430,000 euros.
