- GM said it was testing its next system, which will allow eyes-off driving, on hundreds of prototype cars.
- GM said 30 to 40 percent of owners kept paying for Super Cruise after the three free years ended.
- GM said drivers had done 1 billion hands-free miles with Super Cruise, across nearly 750,000 cars of 23 models in North America.
- GM said it would add 'eyes-off' driving on highways from 2028, using lidar (laser sensors), radar and cameras. At that point Super Cruise had done over 700 million hands-free miles on 23 GM vehicles.
- In the first IIHS (an insurance-industry safety group) ratings of how driver-assist systems keep drivers alert, Super Cruise was the only one of 14 systems to meet every test for handling a driver who stops responding. IIHS faulted it for changing lanes without any driver input.
- GM said an upgraded Super Cruise that can change lanes on its own would come to six more vehicles in 2022, including the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra pickups. It worked on more than 200,000 miles of US roads.
