XPENG Humanoid Robot Real-Time Motion-Following Interaction

Watch on YouTube

Against the record

IRON, from XPENG, is at stage 1 of 5 on our ladder: demo only. Shown in videos or staged events; no units with customers. The latest milestone on its record is from 8 Sept 2026: XPENG opened an IRON production line in Guangzhou. The first robot built there walked off the line by itself.

This video comes from the maker's own channel, and makers show their robots at their best. The stage above comes from dated public records, not from the video.

From the video's description

XPENG IRON shakes hands, bumps fists, and high-fives with people, and can also respond flexibly to sudden "switch-ups" during interaction. When a palm suddenly closes into a fist, he adjusts his response accordingly. When the high-five position changes, he switches hands to coordinate. IRON doesn't just recognize a gesture once and finish a routine before reacting. He keeps observing, judging in real time, and adjusting continuously—delivering real-time motion-following interaction. Relying on the same Physical AI foundation, the upgraded VLA 2.0 model gains stronger temporal understanding and future behavior prediction. This capability has also been deployed on-device on the XPENG humanoid robot IRON. Starting with a handshake and a high-five, IRON is learning how to get along with people. #XPENG #XPENGMoment
