MedicalHair transplant robot
ARTAS
by Venus Concept (formerly Restoration Robotics)
ARTAS is a robot for hair transplants. Using cameras, its arm takes small groups of hair follicles from the back of the scalp, and the newest model, ARTAS iXi, also makes the holes where the grafts go and plants them. Venus Concept ARTAS iXi page, viewed Oct 2026

The rule, not an opinion
Stages are worked out by published rules from the dated milestones above. We never rate robots, and no maker can pay to change a stage.

Regulator-cleared or mass marketThis robot
A regulator has cleared it where approval applies: FDA clearance or approval for a medical robot, a permit to run with no one aboard for a self-driving vehicle, or an FAA approval for routine drone flights. Or: Widely sold: sales in the hundreds of thousands, or a product category you can buy in ordinary shops.

What we couldn't confirm. Venus Concept's page says ARTAS iXi is FDA-cleared (Class II), but the original FDA 510(k) record and date for ARTAS, and the launch date of ARTAS iXi, could not be confirmed (web search ran out). No count of systems or procedures was found.
